Dr Antonino Sgroi is a graduate of the University of Geneva. After completing an MD-PhD at the University of Geneva in the Surgical Investigations Unit, he acquired expertise in general surgery and proctology working at the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the Nyon Hospital, first as head of the surgery department and then as associate doctor in the proctology unit. Since December 2023, he has also been a consultant in proctology and general surgery at Yverdon Hospital.
Recognised for his contributions to research and clinical practice, he specialises in HPV-induced anal dysplasia and sexually transmitted diseases.
Outside his medical work, he is involved in the creation and management as vice-president of Humanitarian For Empowerment, an association aiming to empower disadvantaged populations around the world.
Seeking new challenges, Dr Sgroi is now considering an independent career as a proctological surgeon, with the Centre Médical du Lac as the preferred location for his future projects.
His hobbies include travelling, cinema and gardening, which he enjoys in the company of his family.
